ChangePoint - My Anchorage Church Home

Well, it has been over a month since I have posted, but I am back and a bit more prepared so that I can post every week or so.  As you can see on the left, ChangePoint is pretty big.  The sanctuary sits about 1300 people for four different services.  This is a new experience for me as I have never joined a church larger than 300 members.  However, ChangePoint was recommended through a friend of a friend and has plenty of opportunities for serving.

I always said that Vineyard was a great place to be a baby because their were no many young parents and teens ready to play with kids.  ChangePoint is great place to be a young kid with all kinds of entertainment and things to climb on.

I call this the name tag globe.  Each kid gets a name tag and an alpha code.  A copy is given to each parent and the code can be flashed on the screen if necessary.  After Sunday-school the kids put the name tags on the globe and it grows ... yes, I added my name tag a couple times.  Before you ask whether I was sent to class with the kids, I got a name tag for the beginner class.

The rush begins immediately after service as children race up the stairs, pausing occasionally to make sure that their younger siblings are still with them.  Parents of course, are left in the dust!
After the rush, comes the waiting, anxious waiting that allows the parents to catch and monitor the line to make sure that each kid goes one-at-a-time.

What is the fount of youthful bliss?  Talk a close look at the right side of the picture.  That is a two-story slide that drops approximately 16 feet at just less than a 45 degree angle. And yes, if I become convinced that I will fit, I too will slide!
Here is a picture of ChangePoint from the outside.  It took me three attempts to find an angle from which I could capture the entire from of the building.  Although, the church is huge I am finding a home there.  They have some great ministries and I will be starting as a volunteer with the Jr High youth this week.  Feel free to take a look at the website: http://www.changepointalaska.com/ (and of course, no one has approved of the content of this blog except me ... and google, to a minor extent.)
